There is a gentle elephant ride in the warm evening light. There is a safari in the South where leopards cross between shadows and elephants graze near the lakes. You hear birds waking the forest and see the land take on a deeper gold as the day ends. Your last days pass by the ocean. Waves roll in with a steady sound and the sky turns soft as the sun sets. DAY 1 – Arrival in Colombo

You arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport where your SkyZeg representative greets you with a warm welcome. You begin your journey toward Colombo, the island’s lively capital. In the afternoon you explore the city. You walk through Independence Square, see the old Parliament, the Bazaar, the Hindu temple and the peaceful Cinnamon Gardens. DAY 2 – Colombo to Yapahuwa to Haththikuchchi to Anuradhapura

After breakfast you begin your route toward the island’s ancient landscapes. Your first stop is the rock fortress of Yapahuwa, once a royal stronghold. The staircase carved into the rock still feels powerful and silent. You continue to Haththikuchchi, an ancient rock temple tied to the story of King Sri Sangabo. DAY 3 – Visit Anuradhapura and Mihintale

After breakfast you explore Anuradhapura. It is one of the world’s great ancient capitals, spread across miles of forest and lakes. Dagobas rise into the sky and quiet monasteries sit among trees that have watched centuries pass. In the afternoon you visit Mihintale. This hillside is known as the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. You climb slowly to the upper terraces where white stupas stand against wide open views. Return to your hotel for dinner and rest.

DAY 4 – Anuradhapura to Aukana to Sigiriya

After breakfast you continue toward Sigiriya. On the way you stop at Aukana where a towering Buddha statue stands carved from a single piece of stone. Its calm expression has watched over the landscape for more than a thousand years. In the afternoon you climb the rock fortress of Sigiriya. The path rises through royal gardens and into the famous frescoes of the divine maidens. At the top you find the remains of King Kashyapa’s palace and a view that feels endless. DAY 5 – Ritigala and Habarana

DAY 6 – Polonnaruwa and Medirigirya

After breakfast you travel to Polonnaruwa. The ancient city is scattered across open plains and lakes. You walk past temples, royal halls and the famous Gal Vihara statues where the stone Buddha rests quietly in the rock. In the afternoon you continue to Medirigirya. The circular temple sits on a rock surrounded by nature. Three stone pillars stand at the center with Buddha statues facing each direction. It is peaceful and uncrowded. Return to your hotel in Sigiriya for dinner.

DAY 7 – Dambulla to Matale to Kandy

After breakfast you begin your journey toward Kandy. Your first stop is Dambulla. The cave temples are covered in paintings and statues that spread across five chambers. The colors and details are beautifully preserved. You continue to Matale where you walk through a spice garden and learn about the plants used in local cooking and Ayurvedic treatments. You arrive in Kandy by afternoon. You tour the city, crossing the shores of Kandy Lake and visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth. By evening you watch a traditional Kandyan dance performance before returning to your hotel for dinner.

DAY 8 – Kandy and Pinnawala

After breakfast you visit the Royal Botanic Garden in Peradeniya. It is one of the most beautiful gardens in Asia, full of orchids and giant trees that form natural arches. In the afternoon you visit the Pinnawala elephant orphanage. You watch the elephants feed and bathe in the river. Return to Kandy for dinner and rest.

DAY 9 – Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast you travel into the hill country. The road climbs slowly and the air becomes cooler. Nuwara Eliya is known for its green slopes filled with tea plantations. In the afternoon you visit a tea factory to learn how the leaves are picked and processed. You enjoy a fresh cup of tea before settling into your hotel. Dinner and rest in Nuwara Eliya.

DAY 10 – Horton Plains and Bandarawela

Early in the morning you leave for Horton Plains National Park with a picnic breakfast. The landscape opens into rolling grasslands, deep valleys and misty cliffs. The walk feels quiet and natural. In the afternoon you continue to Bandarawela and visit the Bogoda wooden bridge, believed to be one of the oldest of its kind. Dinner and rest in Bandarawela.

DAY 11 – Bandarawela to Buduruwagala to Kataragama

After breakfast you drive toward Kataragama. On the way you stop at Ravana Falls where water rushes down the cliff. You then visit Buduruwagala, a cluster of tall stone carvings hidden in the jungle. The central Buddha figure rises above you with a calm presence. By afternoon you reach Kataragama. You visit the temple during the evening Pooja ceremony where worshippers gather with flowers and oil lamps. Dinner and rest at your hotel.

DAY 12 – Nimalawa and Yala Safari

In the morning you visit Nimalawa Hermitage where monks live in simple meditation huts near the forest. The environment feels quiet and spiritual. In the afternoon you enter Yala National Park for a jeep safari. The park is known for leopards, elephants, buffalo and many bird species. Watching wildlife in its natural habitat is one of the highlights of the journey. Return to Kataragama for dinner and rest.

DAY 13 – Weligama to Galle to Wadduwa

After breakfast you travel toward the southern coast. Your first stop is Weligama where stilt fishermen sit perched above the waves. It is one of the island’s most iconic scenes. You continue to Galle where you walk through the old Dutch fort with its stone walls, colonial buildings and small cafés. By evening you reach your hotel in Wadduwa facing the ocean. Dinner and rest.

DAY 14 – Departure from Colombo

After breakfast you transfer to Colombo. If your flight leaves later in the day you may explore the city once more. Your journey ends with a smooth transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
